María Torres

Fashion designer

My name is María Torres Rodríguez and I was born on October 30, 1999 in Burgos, Spain.

I grew up helping my grandma to take hems and make basting, which led me to love sewing since I was very young. After finishing my high school degree in arts I wanted to enter the degree of Fine Arts, but due to academic issues I couldn't, so I took the admission test for Fashion Design, where I found my true vocation, sewing.

Las Bragas

Final Project for the Fashion Design Degree in collaboration with Burgos' Municipal Theatre School.

The piece “Las Bragas” is a contemporary play that shows life as a couple, not in everyday life, but rather in a surrealist way, defining the good and the bad within it in a totally exaggerated way.

The main inspiration for the collection is the distortion of reality, that mix between real and dreamlike.

Velai

The human eye admires geometric perfection and the greatest example of this is nature. It has been our greatest source of inspiration.

In this design we put nature together in the most natural way possible, to appreciate its beauty.

Metanoia

We are all carried along by trends, but you come to a point in your life when you question them and want to discover who you really are and what is your place in the world.

This collection is inspired by human change, a complicated and sometimes painful but worthwhile process.

Solaz

Solaz is a collection that shows the ability of people to go back to childhood and have fun again, without having to worry about anything.

This collection is based on randomness. Because no matter how much we think about things there is always something that is going to be unpredictable.

The biggest references have been textile sculptors.

Reflecta

Adela Andea denounces the fact that technology is destroying nature. But in the end, technology is created by human beings, so the one to be criticised is the human being who does not take care of his home.

The collection shows the reality of human beings, the chaos they create and how they distort reality. All this is reflected through translucent mirrors and wool.

Escaparates

Consumerism is the biggest problem in fashion. More clothes are produced than are consumed.

These shop displays are intended to condemn the consequences of consumerism and overproduction.
